Personally...I go for 2-2.5 years...have stretched a few to 3 years, but usually, those do not end as well...something happens to us with time...one or both partners become unstable and impatient which will affect the love...now, I do not wait for things to go sour...around the 2 year mark is when a heart to heart talk is required...if both are ok...schedule another heart to heart every 4-6 months hence...like a servicing...and if things are not well...part on logical terms and there is a good chance to remain friends...lessen the heartbreak a little bit too... I think it's true in Indonesia that it's very much a class-divided society. Even rich indo-indo won't usually marry an indo-chinese and vice versa.
Also, rich indo-indo usually are political/military background, indo-chinese is almost all business background. This is really something quite unique in Indonesia.

here's my FR:
