Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
Ok, i think i also share some of my own.
I was in prison from 1992 - 1997. Drug offence. 10 strokes of cane. I was in old changi at that time. The canning is painful, but still can tahan, not so bad. Abt yellow ribbon, dont trust it. After my release, it is so hard to find a job. In the end i only can self employ. Go and try, even you want to work as a cleaner in any gov sector, they dont even bother to hire you. I was rejected by CRS after i completed my dealer training. But thks to the gov, i am now better off. In SG, dont go into the wrong path, once done, the gov would not give you a second chance even the others are willing to give. The gov will stop them. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
I been following this thread and surprised to read that till date, I HAVE NOT read A SINGLE positive feedback on YRP nor this project is reaching it's 3 'A' goals.
In my humble opinion, I think it is time for an immediate review to alignment it's plans with its strategic objectives and a measure needs to put in place to helps measure and improve the interactive and feasible characteristics. Just my 2 cents opinion. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
me no complain about tat ( yellow ribbon), since me kenna is not yellow ribbon program ( not yet started ) but work program,
and seriously, i no complaints la, considered good life compared to those who are not eligible at all. when the moment u get a chance to go out of those prison walls, its the freedom tat matters, low $$$/salary is not an issue anymore ( i would pay to get the hell outta there ). and actually cant expect much la, since we are the ones in the wrong first, so deserve wat we get to all bros who go in holiday before, 我们向前看,不要再回头....

To those who've been in and out, especially if you have been caned, congratulations for having made it. You have survived an ordeal which shows you are strong and that you can make good.

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
Shared an old story, that was 20yrs ago, somehow till today. I guess the law had screw up certain degree.
2 guys when shopping, 1 of them shop lifted, he was caught by security. The security asked did he work alone? He replied with friend so, the other guy was also called into the office. After statement collected, the security officer report police. They came and handcup both. At lock up, the 1 who committed the crime con the other, admit he too had taken things. He was of course, no way but he told him if admit. IOs will take statement and can return home. So he too admit that he did it and, both signed the papers or, something like that. Return home my foot! That gen no night courts, this gen i not sure. Anway, both spend the night in lock up. Next day attended court and, charged paid the fines. The innocent guy told me and, i believe him he did not seen the shop lift things. He also said in security office, he was wrote as an accomplish only, no writting of he taken anythings. So i went with him to the dept store. The Manager was kind enough to show us the paper, yes his name was mention as accomplish not the person who stole. The Manager was suprised howcome he was charged with stealing. Of course, we knew he was stupid to admit for things he never did. Now, this is what pissed me, he said the IO asked both 2 pick things from the table. Each took few goods, they brought it back to station, and put into 2 plastic bags. Both were equal charged. The 1 who did it, well after that day he disppeared. Morale of this story, is real my you, never act brother or, hero for things that has nothing to do with us. And he told me that was consider as a crimminal offend, my friend had checked with lawyer and, he said the lawyer advice him to move on. Is impossible to clear his name because he allreally admit pay the fine too. Last edited by jacky43; 20-12-2010 at 04:54 PM. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
If i did not write this, it will not be fair to the dept store Manager. He was sorry for what happened to that guy. That eve was not him that attended the taking of statement, something like this.
It was a junior security officer, he took down statement alone and, without calling his superiors. He report police handover the papers to them. Only the next day he told his manager. This manager had set SOP after the incident, senior security officers can handle this type of cases. Junior officers are to assist, further instructions are to be taken from company, not the security office. Hope all dept ctrs had follow this SOP. Especially this holiday sessions. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
Dicey subject but would like to add my strory to share too, was a ex rtc boy in the 90s and went in for a crime I really did not commit. (So much for lawyers and judges and law in sg) cut to the chase, went in and "hang around" for the whole 35 months. NRB sucks for the 1st 3 months, and got demoted 2x from hall to NRB for few silly things done in there.
Always remeber the wardens (can mention names?) hahaha whom pick on the newbies and the drills are the most boring of all. Those ex RTC boys, remember "comando roll on the Parade sqare at 2pm? then we have the "sun tan" for an hour or so till the skin on the body breaks out in blisters. My time there, I was a under dog as not related to gangs and had no "friends" to look out but indeed had to say, was a eye opener in my 35 mths there. Bad luck too, had a new SOP and was handed 3 strokes of the cane for a silly deed not worth mentioning. That was more than 10 years and my butt still shows the 3 lines. Really felt that the SOP then was "showing" his power and now am out for so many years, I still think of it and why did the "law" allow the SOP to give rotan like sweets. As I understand that rotan in prison given by the SOP is for very grave mistakes and needs to set a examply eg. escape, gang fight or sodomey cases. But the 35 months there was like ages, the feeling is mixed with anger, sadness, self pity and at times going to die seems a better way to deal with the "stress" hahaha that's the only word that comes to my mind. Well have been out now, and am enjoying the pleasures the world has to offer and really cannot see myself going back in. I 've came a long way to make good myself with a good job, salary, family and "toys" car and bike as RTC was the insparation to get my driving license. Funny but true, there are inmates whom should never be in RTC for "crimes" not worth mentioning. Imagine this, boy steals ice cream and he gets 3yrs RT. Silly right? Then there are the mid stream cases where some gets out earlier than the good boys but end up coming back after a few months in SC. Man to see them release and return in a few months was like WTF. Upon my release, always remebered this SRO, " so when you coming back?" and I just ignored him. Funny thing too, never seen any of the wardens in the streets or night spots le. Really tell me that they got no life hahahha. But bear in mind, there are the "good" wardens and the "evil" ones whom are ever keen to dish out a blow or two to fulfill their "needs" hahahha. Well there's my story and just sharing la. To the other samsters whom went in and out, enjoy la and those going in, eat drink and be merry man! |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
aj and blowjob... nowadays prison not so many... RTC and boys home got more.. its easier to do those things there coz first pple still young ma... then second the security is more lax....
i was in rtc in 2002... in my cell i ever witness bj incident... all of us keep quiet coz in prison the mindset is if it does not concern you juz stay out of it... normally they do this not becoz desperate or wat.. its to humiliate the person... in prison its a totally different world.. there are alot fo bai tao to follow... sometimes wat seems wrong outside is not wrong inside... some people go in and out coz cant get accustomed to life outside... pple always say go in the first 2 months v hard... but i tell you come out first few months even harder... especially if you got no family support.. lucky for me i took my o levels inside come out liao go poly with support from my dad or else i think also v hard... alot of my friends come out liao go back doing illegal stuff coz they juz cant survive on the right path... sad but true.. yellow ribbon is not bull shit la.. its to give pple inside false hope so they at least will try to walk on the right path... |
