Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Man Utd won 2-1 after Wigan took a 1-nil half-time lead.
A freaky goal by Tevez and a fantastic goal by Carrick in the second half won the match for them. need just 1 more point to be champion again. Man Utd seems to be able to nip those 1 goal's win...thatz why they are going to be the champion again.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
nice backflip goal by tevez. hope tevez will sign for man utd on permanent deal. this guy is good.
1 more pt against arsenal and we can pop champagne and lift epl trophy at old trafford next match Tevez could sign for free United could try to sign Carlos Tevez on a Bosman-style free transfer. SunSport understands the Red Devils are exploring whether there are legal loopholes in the striker’s contract. In particular, the third party ownership agreement which ties Tevez with the investment company MSI is under scrutiny. Leading sports lawyers are looking at whether the ownership of Tevez’s registration by MSI could be challenged under the same terms as Jean Marc Bosman took on the old transfer system. His advisor Kia Joorabchian said once again yesterday that no deal is close with United and that Tevez is willing to sign for one of their Premier League rivals. “What he wants to do is to go to a club which has real ambition, a real focus, to be champions of England, champions of Europe, champions of everywhere. Obviously, leaving United he would have to go to a rival in order to achieve that target. But he understands it’s not in his control.” Ian McGarry, The Sun Other quotes from Joorabchian indicated the striker would be willing to switch to Manchester City - who have made preliminary inquiries - although no decision would be made until the end of the season. Former United captain Steve Bruce, who has been tipped by Wigan chairman Dave Whelan to take over frrom Sir Alex, has warned Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo that they will be making a huge mistake if they leave Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has hailed Sir Alex, insisting he never lost faith in the United manager's ability to create another great team. “You just have to trust the manager," he said. "He has been so successful, so not to have done that would have been crazy. The players stood by everything he has done.” The Guardian reckons United are on the verge of signing Brazilian teenager Dodo in a £5million deal. Manchester United Official Web Site

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Premier League - Fergie: I want to keep Tevez Sir Alex Ferguson insisted he wants Carlos Tevez to stay at Old Trafford after the Argentinian scored in Manchester United's 2-1 win at Wigan. Tevez equalised with an impudent back-heel after Hugo Rodallega had given the Latics a first-half lead before Michael Carrick scored an 86th-minute winner to leave United only a point away from retaining their Premier League title. Tevez's future has been in the spotlight over the past few days, with the former West Ham player quoted in a Sunday newspaper saying he does not expect to stay at the champions. However, following the victory at the JJB Stadium, Ferguson told Sky: "He is a fantastic player. "He knows I want him to stay. I had a chat with him today and (chief executive) David Gill has had meetings with him. "I'm sorry I have to keep on going on about this, it has never changed. (The fact) we're not negotiating with a football club is the problem - we'll see." Carrick paid tribute to Wigan following his late strike, saying: ''It (my goal) was worth the wait. ''To score goals as important as that is a great feeling - I had to make up for the miss in the first half, it's a great feeling. ''Wigan came at us and caused a few problems. ''It's not the first time we have come from behind - we did it the hard way.''

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
I think United are doing this on purpose, just to rub salt on Liverpool's wounds.
First they come back against Villa, then Spurs and now Wigan. Each time Liverpool get a small hard on and end up with a premature ejeculation. I'm Loving It! PS. Wonder what further tirades we gonna see from their fans following this victory. Last edited by mangoesteam; 14-05-2009 at 02:34 PM. |

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Just bought today's (May 14th, 2009) NewPaper and the article on the last page by Lim Say Heng got me laughing and almost rolling on the floor of my office.
He is using and citing past events, numerology, coincidences and goodness knows what other feng sui devices to surmise that our beloved Champions might slip on a banana skin........ and lose to Liverpool. wahaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Off course it is the job of a sports writer to pen interesting articles to keep readers informed and craving for more........ "selling the news". But to peer into information that has collected dust in the archives and delve into superstitions and what "ifs" half beliefs..... mmmmmmm,....... a rather cheeky and desperate approach. Whats next....... I think there will be a report soon that on-line demand for voo-doo dolls (shaped and dressed up like ManU) have gone up and there is a world shortage for needles. HA HA HA Cheers AC

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours
Premier League - Manchester United are champions!! Manchester United were crowned Premier League champions after a goalless draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford United only needed a point to secure a third consecutive Premier League title and that is what they achieved with a cautious performance. It was the 11th title of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign and means United match Liverpool's record haul of 18 in the top-flight. United came into the match on the back on a seven-match winning streak in the league and had an opening inside a minute when Cristiano Ronaldo burst away down the right flank but opted to cross rather than shoot. That summed up an understated opening 45 minutes from the hosts whose best chance was spurned by Wayne Rooney. He was picked out by Michael Carrick but diverted his header past the near post. Ryan Giggs also lifted a free-kick in a good position over the crossbar and was equally wayward when the ball sat up for him nicely after a counter attack initiated by Rooney. Arsenal had won on three of their previous 12 Premier League visits to Old Trafford, including in 2002 when Sylvain Wiltord's goal clinched a 1-0 win and the title, and they had the best chance of the opening period. A super diagonal pass from Cesc Fabregas found Robin van Persie unmarked eight yards out but he put his header over the top. Samir Nasri, who scored twice in the Premier League match at the Emirates between these sides earlier in the season, also should have done better when he was picked out by Andrei Arshavin 18 yards out. His shot was going wide and van Persie was unable to divert it on target. Arsenal headed to Old Trafford on the back of a recent 4-1 aggregate drubbing against United in the Champions League but continued to play the better football after the break and Arshavin teed up Kieran Gibbs whose shot from 20 yards nestled in the side netting. United failed to muster a single shot on target in the entire match but their best chance came when Darren Fletcher's cross from the right found Carlos Tevez who eluded Kolo Toure but Lukasz Fabianski raced off his line to make a sliding challenge with his feet which was enough to put the Argentine off. Had Tevez gone down, referee Mike Dean would have had a big decision to make. Tevez left the fray shortly after, waving goodbye to the Stretford End possibly for the last time, and his replacement Park Ji-Sung put the ball in the net shortly after coming on only for Ronaldo to be penalised by an errant offside flag. Ronaldo almost gave the home fans the goal they were craving but a superbly struck free-kick from the left just missed the top corner with Fabianski looking on helplessly. But then United had to endure a nervy ending as the Gunners looked to spoil the party. The best move of the match saw Alex Song burst through and tee up Fabregas who aimed for the near post from the angle and saw his shot brush Van der Sar's fingers and hit the outside of the post. Van Persie then warmed Van der Sar's palms with a shot on goal from the right before in injury-time the Dutchman's whipped effort flicked off Carrick and went for a corner. However United were not to be denied and for the first time in 10 years, when they beat Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, were confirmed as champions on their home turf. United took the acclaim of the Stretford End at the final whistle and now face Hull next Sunday before they bid to retain the Champions League against Barcelona.
