Or should I say the sellers (those who bought after 2006) are still 'dreaming' to sell for a profit.. The fire sale will come in very soon.. If the merger between Boa and Merrills goes through there will be job cuts. Even if AIG survive, there will be job cuts too. Lehman is being disected and sold and that will reduce jobs and expats will be leaving Singapore.. All these people probably trigger a hole in the 5-20K rental group and the 2-4mil sgd home ownership.

The global economy is inter-related. The construction sector will feel the crunch when the smaller housing projects are not taking off.. as we know all major projects are funded by the on going smaller projects.. Dont you think those big guns will fee the pinch when the slowdown worsens?

i think the cushion pt will be 2.3K..The mkt is very volatile now n we still have 4th qtr to go!!..anything can happen. Traditionally 4th qtr is the best time to hit sales target cos of tks givin; xmas n new yr....looks like the mood will be very down n cfm US mkt demand for international pdts will slump all the way, giving rise to a global reccession..

My take for sg GDP tis will is bt 3.8% - 4.2%..we should be able to meet tat

Now the games r over,the worms r out.

Some manufacturing plants has started their retrenchment exercise months ago. More could come soon.

In 3~4 yrs time, those drawing high $$ in the IR construction would hv 2 go back 2 mrt construction............

Hmmm, I have a diff opinion. If our GDP can hit 3.0%, already very good. Semi-con/Wafer industry already extreme loomy for months.

HP juz announced 8% job cuts (approx. 24,000+ jobs). IT industry in SG will be hit soon, with so few projects so many SI merging/bought over and fight over those projects. HP bought EDS, SingTel buying SCS (probably merge into its subsidiary NCS)...what's next.

Not only WL is facing competition. Many lines and industry are facing it as well. The most benefitical one is the consumer.

Clear signs of economy slowing down like retrenchments and job pay cuts.
