Re: Hanoi
La Thanh Hotel is NOT near any Sofitel Hotel, its at 218 Doi Can street. The hotel have a large land compound and the massage is at the perimeter of the compound and not in the hotel main building itself. Depending on what time you arrive there, if the waiting line is long, they will just been too keen to turn away any foreigners business.

La Thanh is on Doi Can street, quite a long road, and it's about 15 mins from Sofitel Plaza. Note though, you don't get too much hanky panky in most massage parlours, La Thanh included. Best you can do is flirt with the massa girl, and try to get her after working hours, usually 11pm. If you are desperate for some tender loving, go to Relax Bar over at Quan So around 11pm. Around that time, there will be a couple of folks standing around ourside the bar, and they are pimps, and would be more than happy to fix you up. Costs around 800K. |

Re: Hanoi
Was back to Hanoi after almost 15 years.
Man wat can i say....I luv the old Hanoi better. The Old Quaters was bustling like a bee hive and congestion was at its peak. Guess it was a case of whose horn is louder. Miss the old Hanoi and the friendly, pretty but conservative locals there too <sigh!!> Anyways, was staying at the West lake area, InterCon Hotel...and since the weather was atrocious (poring all day and nite with moments of sunshine) and it was cold and wet, i got, what kind i say.....a little itchy. So grabbed the hotel umbrella ( realise it was a big mistake Why? will tell u later) and decided to walk along the main road, to check out some massg joints (saw a few as i was coming in). The first one i checked got my attention, as the banner hung was pretty big (and in Engleeesh). So figured can't be wrong,,,it was within/beside a pretty run down hotel. Got a little nervous when two burly guys saw and came towards me...got my heart racing a bit, and decided to flee. Walked another 10 mins down the road, saw wat i though was a rather "big" joint. Went in and cheked the rates out..the two guys there ( looked almost like the type of guys u would fine in the Thai $%* shops in Geylang) attended to me...both of us tried to look cool, but i noticed that they seemed drawned towards the Umbrella ( wat gives?). Wat i found odd was that a 90 ms massage cost only USD 7, and it comes with a whole host of services; massage, special salts and creams etc etc ...Too good to be true...asked a couple of quetions, but it was a futile effort, a case of a duck rattling to a chicken...to cut a long story short, a Japanese guy walked down the steps and approaced the counter to pay. What i can say was that he wasnt at all happy. The guys told him to pay (i think?) tips to the gal..he refused, the conversation went on for some time, and wat seeemd like an uncomfortable eternerty, he made a bold move....he just packed up and left the place, neveer looking back..Okieee, this was now my Cue to Flee too, yet again (. This was not turning out the way that i was expeting at all. Anyways, X the road and saw this BIG RED building. Frget the name, something like Entertaiment Complex and it opens at 11am....looked real fancy, with water falls and a mini bridge...but no 1 ard...guess not a good sign, decided to flee yet again...F%^& man..tats already an hr of my time wasted and soaking wet from the rain. Walking back towards my hotel, spotted a hole-in-the-wall massge joint....the way my day was turning out, coudnt get any worst....so decieded to go in...man it was a welcomed changed..the recep was georgeous, spoke fluent engleesssshh and Jap too ( attended to several customers that were paying) ...could have sworned that i heard a faint SG accent from one of the customers, as he was paying (any of u bros here??)...saw the sign on the wall, says 150k fr 90mns ( i think?), so not too bad...But when it came to my turn (to be attended), she said the rate depended on how long I stayed..."can stay as long as u want"...but, "what rate???"...still no reply . This is where the unbrella came in again. The security guard, who took my umbrela ( to be stored) utteered to the recep...dont know wat was said , but could sence that it seemed like a case of "lets slughter this Blur Sotong, stays at the InterCont.." Anyway told her, all I only wanted was an hr and was then directed to one of the the many cubicles ( with a small see-thru window). She then told me the rate will be USD 30/hr...the massuer that attended to me was ave looking, the masage was terrible and the GQ was poped...hagled with her on the price, but it seemed in-grained in her brain tats its US30..so anyway, decided to go fr it...didnt want to ask her fr options, as i din't think there was going to be any, besides the HJ (dont frget the small window on the door) All in all, not a good experience...The Hanoi of old was certainly much better <sigh>..perhaps an unfair comment, concidering, it was only one place and within a day Question ....why is there a disparity in rates? USD 7 and USD 30 between estb? also any1 knows wat lies within that BIG RED Buildg? |

By the way, the tips for a HJ from a young sweet looking girl is basically US$10 at very most US$15 or VND200k. Tips for HJ by an auntie should be US$200... ie she pays me!! ;-) So next time try not to spoil the market... From your FR.. total you paid is US$60 for a simple half fucked massage and a mechanical HJ... I could hv brought you to another place withing walking distance from InterCon and that same money is enuf to pay for FJ for both of us! |

Re: Hanoi
I'm staying at intercon too, damn boring place. Went to Thang Loi hotel for a massage yesterday, the bellboy tried asking for tip and promised pretty gal. Dun trust him and chased the bugger off instead. In came a okie looking gal, but the massage was sort of rushed and no massage baby The other reason i could think of was the gal's from Saigon, kns of all places. Last experience of a massage gal from that city was unpleasant as well. Went out, saw a few who are not bad looking, just my luck, wonder what it would be like if i can speak fluent viet man...
