Guess your definition of distance is different from most of us. I always walk to Classic from Redtop but definitely take a taxi to Travel.

For me, walking distance is a bit of a colloquialism meaning it's close, not that I would physically walk there. If I was in the USA, I could walk the distance from Red Top to Hotel Travel fairly easily. I wouldn't walk down the street in North Jakarta.

Yes dun walk in North Jakarta, there are land mines, mafia on the street n drug lords everywhere. Stay far away from Jakarta. I suppose it is better to stay out of Indo. U will be safe. To me, is a good location.
Reason as follows (my own preference):
1. 5 Minute Cab Ride to Classic Hotel
2. Opposite the famous Kwang Tung Porridge Shop (24 hours), the crab porridge and you tiao is just heavenly!
3. The Martarbak Manis on the same street is also fantastic (as you can see, I am a foodie person as well).
But I prefer to stay at Alila Hotel instead (same street) as the facilities and room setting in Red Top seems to be much older and worn off.
The road which is in front of Red Top Hotel (call pecenongnan) has rather good traffic (as compared to mangga dua, mangga besar, gunung sahari).
If I want to head to Plaza Indo (their orchard area). I can simply from Pecenongan, head to Gajah Madah, To Monas and will be at Thamrin area liao.

Anyway for food recommendation, Pondok Laguna (Gambir) is a must try.

This is really within walking distance.
My food recommendation is "Kamseng" Chinese near Glodok area. The food is OK, but this is a 24hr restaurant best to go very late or after midnight, as all the KTV, massage, FL, or other girls like to eat here and you can pick them up if you need someone to keep you warm at night. Good place to get your Food and "Ayam" at the same time.
Tease club is the place to see the gals dance naked...Here's breakdown of prices in rupiah:
1 LD = 50,000
5 LD = 250,000
HJ = 300,000
BJ = 600,000
ST = 1,000,000
1 bottle Heineken = 70,000
I really enjoyed Tease club, but cost were a bit different for dancers when i went in December (see my previous post# 18198). 2 or 3 LD got their tops off and you can do titty play. BJ was 700,000, and FJ was 1.8 Jt. If FJ/ST has gone done to 1Jt then I think its truly a steal for the quality of the dancers. Even at Classic FJ with Dancers cost 1.2Jt and they are not as hot as Tease club dancers.

Nope. The taxi protests was only a one day affair. And boy, did it backfire. Post-event, taxi users grew animosity towards the taxi companies, Bluebird especially, and actually it resulted in more people downloading Uber/Grab now.
The good ones that I've been to around that area include Orchardz Spa at Pangeran Jayakarta, and Golden Crown Spa (been a while, hopefully still good).

It was at Club 36, and fallen11 said also at Tease (lounge at the Emporium Club), both clubs happened to belong to the same Alexis group. I can't say for sure if other places are already back to normal though.
Love the padang there especially with the kuah on the rice. And they allow smoking inside, best!
They also sell big tiger prawn... and their padang food is very complete... at supper, you might find yourselves surrounded by night club gals.... LOL...
