No matter how, MOMO [not a Jap AV girl] has never impressed me since I first saw him played for Liverpool. He is lousy by any standards, and he is rough in attacking opponents' legs !! Will get red carded easily. He should be "marginalized"

Well, for MOMO, i think important for us to have other holding midfielders to compete with him for the place to make him improve of leave.

He did play some good games when he partnered someone like Alonso who is a good passer & with football intelligence. Interesting to see who will play alongside him when we meet PSV away.

Vieira got reds and many yellows in his time in England, mind you.

Anyway, all credit to Momo for being honest about needing to improve. He also never shied away from playing on the field - tried his best. Who knows, he might get better and he is still young after all.

Let's not make things more difficult by jumping on him like Igor.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Just spent 2.5 hrs reading the most recent 4 pages of this thread. Was away for more than a week and could not logg in to read up. Am gald to be back and having access

Dun know if fellow kopites bros have seen these write up >>>

Now that they have completed their purchase of Liverpool, American tycoons George Gillet Jr and Tom Hicks have urged the club to expand the new stadium at Stanley Park beyond the planned 60,000 capacity. It is doubtful whether they would match the 76,000 Manchester United can accommodate at Old Trafford. A bigger stadium would require a new planning application, but Liverpool are confident that a 2009 completion date remains realistic. The £234m cost of the new stadium would certainly rise as a result of any changes, but having borrowed £298m to fund their investment in the club, they are prepared to borrow a further £200 million to finance the construction of a new stadium.

At £300m Liverpool is costing them far less than the £830m the Glazer family need to acquire Manchester United. The American duo are borrowing close to £300m to buy the club and assume their debts. Unlike the Glazers, they are relying on a simple bank loan which pays 1.5 per cent more than the Bank of England base rate. The Glazers are still reliant on more specialised lending which carries a borrowing cost of 12 per cent. The interest bill at Liverpool will be £21.5m which is remarkably similar to last year's profit of £22.1m before transfer spending. However, once the lucrative new televison rights deals kick in next year, they should contribute an extra £15m, although perhaps £5m of that will be taken up by increased wages. The club's finances can probably only sustain transfer spending of around £20m a year and that may not be enough to match their ambitions.

Hence the need for more revenue from an increased stadium capacity.

Here is another from BBC sports, The above is from UK Vital sports.

Liverpool's new owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have suspended work on their proposed new stadium and ordered a review of the plans.

BBC Sport understands the pair want to examine ways of increasing the 60,000 capacity of the arena in Stanley Park.

Liverpool have targeted 2009 as an opening date for the stadium, but if major changes are made, there would need to be a new planning application.

This could result in a delay, although the original date may yet be met.

Liverpool have yet to confirm the decision to suspend preparatory work on the £215m project, but have revealed a review will be undertaken.

A Liverpool spokesman said: "There is a total commitment to a new stadium but the new owners are conducting a thorough review of the current proposals, to see if there is any way they can be improved."

BBC Sport believes the club's hierarchy regards the move to commission a review of the plans as a sign of the huge ambition of Gillett and Hicks rather than any move to back away from the original scheme.

Gillett and Hicks are fully behind the project as part of their takeover plan, and it is understood the review will take ''weeks rather than months'', allowing work on any alterations to the original design to get under way as soon as possible.

An increased capacity will be one of the plans under discussion during the review, but this is not a guarantee that this will happen.

Work on the new ground needs to start in the spring because public money has been allocated to the regeneration element of the plan, and it has to be spent by the end of 2008.

Gillett said in early February: "The shovel needs to be in the ground in the next 60 days.

"We are fully supportive of the Stanley Park development and of building a facility that we hope will be the greatest facility in this sport.

"We do work hard on design and development and making sure the quality of the fan experience is unparalleled.

"We want to make sure the newest technology is incorporated in it. It is about the comfort of fans."

And Hicks added: "We have our own people lined up to see if, within the confines of the plans, there are any other ideas that would be good for the fans."

I read somewhere, but could not remember where, that they were looking at increasing the capacity to 80,000 and recreate the Kop stand with a capacity of 25,000.

Apologies if these are all old news to bros here. Just wanted to share. Cheers.......YNWA

momo will have a lot of work to do if he is to become a reasonable passer of the ball. but his attitude and commitment on the field reminds me of a certain young stevie gerrard (minus the ball skills though), reckless but running every ball down. u can get players and u can get other players. but players with heart, they r far and few in between. he puts his job before his own body, which is the embodiment of a midfield enforcer. the kind of midfield enforcer who is a personal nightmare to those skillful players. u can use trickery to get past him but rest assured he wont be embarassed and will chase u down either to get the ball or eat yr legs for breakfast.

i would love the day i can field 10 sissokos out on the field and see them run their opponents to the dressing room. but then again, we might probably end up with 8 men on the field at the end of the game.

rafa knows what he is doing, he bought sissoko to valencia and to liverpool. there is something special about him. 6 feet of fat free fighting machine with no ego - the ultimate team player. i saw him initially as a valencia bit part player and i was impressed. at central midfield in liverpool, supposedly pushing the worldclass gerrard to right wing, has its own pressures. give the boy time, he will come through big time. just my own personal views in the middle of this cold, lonely nite...

Guess most of us hope so,but he has to make way for better ones if he doesn't come good ,even he is a Liverpool fanatic, just look at Murphy,
and we still don't know whether our new American owners are that patient & forgiving.
