Two massage centres closed TWO illegal massage centres were ordered to close after a raid by enforcement officers of the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and officials of the Selangor State Religious Department (JAIS) on Thursday night. Nine local girls in the early 20s, some of them university students, were picked up from one centre at Taman Megah, while at a centre in Damansara Pelangi, six more local girls, in their 20s and 30s, were apprehended. The Operasi Rumah Urut raid was conducted by 25 MBPJ enforcement officers and five JAIS officials at Taman Megah and Damansara Pelangi after 9pm. This is the third time that the two centres had been raided in operations against illegal massage centres. According to a MBPJ officer, both the Lotus Traditional Massage Parlour in Taman Megah and the Aroma Massage Traditional Reflexology Centre in Pusat Perdagangan Pelangi in Damansara Pelangi were operating without licence. The Lotus Traditional Massage Parlour was alleged to have committed an offence under Section 5 of the Advertising Bylaw 1991 and Section 31 (1) of the Beauty and Healthcare Bylaw 2007. The Aroma Massage Traditional Reflexology Centre was alleged to have violated Section 31 (1) of the Beauty and Healthcare Bylaw 2007. There were four customers -- three at one centre and one at the other -- when the raid was conducted. “The centres have been ordered to close down until they have obtained the proper licences and fulfilled the required conditions,” the officer said.
