When is a massage just a massage? The southern Chinese province of Guangdong, which in February saw one of the country’s biggest crackdowns on vice, wants to clarify the difference between legitimate establishments that knead tired muscles and brothels that offer massage services as a front for prostitution.

On Monday, the Guangdong provincial government issued a series of regulations aimed at keeping prostitution out of massage parlors, The Southern Metropolitan Daily reported. The rules include a ban on installing catwalks, saunas and bathing rooms, the Guangzhou-based newspaper said. Massage areas cannot have doors that lock, and lights cannot be turned off when the areas are in use. And massage parlors must log the identification of customers who visit between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. and register that information with the police.The new regulations follow a high-profile exposé by state television of prostitution in the Guangdong city of Dongguan, which was followed by an extensive crackdown. Some local officials asserted that Dongguan, which is known widely as China’s Sin City, was no worse than many other large, fast-growing cities in China. Following the crackdown, spas and karaoke parlors were shuttered across Dongguan, though many predicted that prostitution would return once the campaign ended.

The Southern Metropolitan Daily report also cast doubt on how rigorously the new rules would be enforced. The newspaper said similar requirements, including the registration of late-night customers, were put in place in the Guangdong city of Foshan in April, but reporters discovered on a recent visit that most massage parlors were unaware of the rules, and some even appeared to be soliciting prostitution.

Before the crackdown in Feb, in two Guangzhou sauna I had to register when
stayed overnight to sleep in a room. It was almost like staying at

There should be free wifi for both block A and B. However the wifi is not listed as swanlake hotel.

Take a look at the TV top right hand corner, they should have paste the password for wifi there.

But there's wifi and LAN for block B.

Wifi in block A is not very stable when I'm there the last time I'm there. Not sure if they have fix the problem...

Totally agree - huge luxurious rooms with an oversized bath tub that really is a great fun place to be with ur belle, way better toiletries, slippers etc vs the old wings. And if you bargain just a bit when you check in, you MAY be able to get a rmb 60 coupon like I did last time.

Totally worth it at 298 even if one do not get the coupon.
