Re: Raise water prices by as much as 100% to reflect production cost: Economist
But seriously folks, has anyone pondered if all wls and massages will increase their prices when all these water and electricity tariffs increase? So this high increase may inadvertently be passed on to sex as well since there is much cleaning and showering here as well. Or will they do away with washing when it increases? Haha......just a side note......Cheers.....

Lee Hsien Loong has commented again on his unpopular plan to raise water tariff by 30%. Calling it "absolutely necessary", he now says it is because the PUB has and has to spent billions to build water infrastructure. So well, the truth is out: he let in millions of foreigners without taking into consideration the capacity of our water supply, and now he wants us to also pay for the expansion of water infrastructure. If he wants to hike water price just to raise revenue, just state it as it is. Why hide behind the bullshit excuses about water being an "existential issue" and there being a need to remind people that it's a precious resource? |

singaporeans got what u deserve. not what u need. ever watched the movie The Matrix? you majority are the batteries in that movie.
you know the wool is pulled over your damn eyes, suckered and screwed each every time , yet choose to vote for the machines. your aged parents still work past 70 years old. your young kids cry due to pressure from school. ever rising living costs with pittance subsidies. 90% of your life in whatever loan debt. chickens in the coop. and when a few by luck or coersion get out of the coop for opportunity or safe haven, those stupid ones looking on from inside the coop turn sour grapes and cuss at the free ones , whilst ignorant that they eventually end up in kfc. their children too. |

Water price hike to temporarily push inflation up
Published: 4:00 AM, April 28, 2017 Updated: 7:36 AM, April 28, 2017 SINGAPORE — The initial temporary impact of the water tariff hike, which will kick in over two phases starting from July, is estimated to add 0.1 percentage-point to both headline and core inflation this year, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said in its Macroeconomic Review published yesterday. Nevertheless, both the MAS core inflation — which excludes the costs of accommodation and private road transport — and the All-Items Consumer Price Index (CPI) are expected to come in at 1 to 2 per cent and 0.5 to 1.5 per cent respectively — unchanged from earlier projections. The MAS noted that since late last year, there have been a number of announcements on administrative price increases, including higher car park fees and domestic refuse collection fees. Other measures such as the increases in water prices and service and conservancy charges (S&CC) will be implemented later this year. “These will contribute to higher inflation in the short term, although subsidies such as the increase in U-Save and S&CC rebates will help to offset the impact of the administrative price increases for eligible households,” said the MAS. While such “administrative cost measures” would temporarily boost inflation, they were “in line with the need to reflect the true underlying scarcity value of resources”, the central bank said. After more than two years of decline, consumer prices rose in December last year. In recent months, headline and core inflation have continued to rise, driven mainly by the turnaround in global commodity markets, the MAS said. continue reading here : http://www.todayonline.com/business/...push-inflation

Next time lim kopi how?
Protected July 8th, 2017 | Author: Contributions Seems like several hot drinks stalls at the Redhill and Jalan Berseh have raised their drink prices since the start of July when the water tariffs hike kicks in. At Redhill Food Centre, at least seven out of about 10 hot drinks stalls have increased prices by 10 cents, with a cup of coffee now costing S$1.10. Over at Jalan Berseh’s Gourmet Street coffee shop, prices have also gone up by a similar amount, with a cup of coffee now costing S$1. At some of the stalls, notices have been put up to inform customers that the higher prices took effect on July 1. However, the hawkers insist that the price increase was due to a lot of other factors, such as rising costs for the their rental, and not only due to the water tariff hike. Following announcements by the government about the tariffs hike, they had also warned that businesses against profiteering from the move. Thus, this probably explain why the stall owners cited a myriad of reasons why their drink prices goes up, and not only because of the water tariff hike. continue reading here : http://www.tremeritus.com/2017/07/08...-lim-kopi-how/

Re: Raise water prices by as much as 100% to reflect production cost: Economist
Alot of coffeeshops has risen coffee to S$1.20 per glass/ cup. Serious speaking the people in charged of economy have no problem in renting the shops to vendor. Because many are PR and new citizens. Anxious to get a biz more so in pissing off born locals. Born locals can't afford to compete against them in terms of rising rental fees.
I dont think these PR and new citizens will lasts long. This is dropping $ into the sea. Of course if this people has good biz senses, which I doubt so. I feel Trump dont like this country policy in winning votes. Thats giving blue and pink ICs to FTs it brought hardships to born locals. Things r expensive, and the ultimate problem is salary not up to market rates. I guess many expats r ganging up with employers. They r not receiving S$25K per mth salaries. Dumb to help employers cheat MOM and ICA. FTs only wish for long term stayed. Nothing more! |

Re: Raise water prices by as much as 100% to reflect production cost: Economist
Didn't government say they will get tough with those profiteers who are raising prices because of this hike? All bullshit like I posted before because owners will cite all kinds of excuses for their actions. So how is the govt going to get tough with them and what actions are they going to do to prove their point? Sigh....rest my case. All talk to find excuses for their water hike but no action done to prove their word or warning.

Quote:
1 ) Complain to CASE and the watchdog . 2 ) Boycott those coffee shops and stalls that anyhow increase prices . 3 ) Bring your own water to drink . 4 ) Or go back to your office to drink . 5 ) Since the government is the cause of all these price increase . Simply do not vote for them in the Presidential and the general elections .
