Rape in Islam

Interesting read on Islam's view on non-consensual sex.

It seems that Rape is of course wrong in Islam as evidenced by this link: (http://islam.about.com/od/crime/f/rape.htm)

"During the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad ((peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), a rapist was punished based on only the testimony of the victim. Wa'il ibn Hujr reported that a womam publicly identified a man who had raped her. The people caught the man and brought him to the Prophet Muhammad. He told the woman to go, that she was not to be blamed, and ordered that the man be put to death."

However if the woman is a captive, then it's not considered Rape and its considered ok after she has had her period...

After reading, I was shocked....but I guess it was a different period in a different time....

With all due respect, can some Muslim bros here explain if its true and enlighten us? Referencing this particular verse:

Qur’anic verse (4:24):

The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) sent a military expedition to Awtas on the occasion of the battle of Hunain. They met their enemy and fought with them. They defeated them and took them captives.

Some of the Companions of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) were reluctant to have intercourse with the female captives in the presence of their husbands who were unbelievers. So Allah, the Exalted, sent down the Qur’anic verse: (Sura 4:24) "And all married women (are forbidden) unto you save those (captives) whom your right hands possess." (Abu Dawud 2150, also Muslim 3433)

Yes, bro..u are right...after reading more articles from it...its clearly a biased source.....Pardon my ignorance....

but the Quranic verse from 4:25 quoted was true...then again...all other religions like Christianity or Judaism also have violence and genocide in them.....
