Malaysia FA Cup match abandoned after scuffle

JOHOR BARU: T-Team refused to continue their FA Cup match with Darul Ta’zim following a scuffle at half-time at Larkin Stadium tonight.

Striker Evaldo Convalves was allegedly punched in the face by a Johor FA official in the tunnel leading to the dressing room after the referee blew the half-time whistle with the hosts leading 2-1.

It left Convalves with a bloody nose while fitness trainer Stefano Impagliazzo was kicked at the groin by another official for trying to stop the scuffle.

The incident was witnessed by several players from both teams.

T-Team assistant coach Azlan Johar said the official punched his player for no reason.

“It is a serious breach of security. We have decided not to play as my players were afraid,” said Azlan.

Meanwhile, Pahang ended Super League champions LionsXII’s 22-match unbeaten home record to march into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win at the Jalan Besar Stadium
