Bros, be patient.... Them boffins at Man U know how to strike deals. They just need time.

Let's not complain about 'different set of rules' lest we sound like that whiny manager, complaining about his team being treated under different rules...

It is not United's first foray into the youth market in Brazil, only last year they struck a deal for Fluminese duo Rafael and Fabio - who will be eligible to move to England in 2009 when they turn 18.

I'm very impressed with Man Utd's Early-Birds-Catches-The-Worms Tactics!

Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

Richardson and sick chicken aka Saha?
Hope SAF keeps players like Heinze and Smith who genuinely put in their 100%whenever they are on the field and not sell them.
Also noticed in the recent newspapers that are speculating on the United forward for next season do not mention Saha in the combinations named by them. Maybe it's a sign that Saha's days at OT are numbered.
I do like the following combination :
In Goal: Van Der Sar
Defence of Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra
Midfield of Hargreaves and Scholes with Ronaldo, Giggs , Rooney and Tevez inter-changing positions upfront.
The bench will be bursting with talents in Anderson, Nani, Carrick, Heinze and Kutszak waiting to reinforce any tired legs or a change in tactics.
Players like Smith, Saha, Solksjaer, Fletcher, O'Shea and Richardson will have to even wait for a chance to sit on the bench.
Can't wait for the new season to kick off in 11 Aug against Reading.

Richardson happy to renew acquaintance with Keane

Sunderland agreed a deal to sign Kieran Richardson last night, after completing the signing of Michael Chopra earlier in the day.

The club have agreed a fee of £5.5 million with Manchester United for Richardson, the midfield player who came through the ranks at Old Trafford.

Richardson, who was also wanted by Everton and Manchester City, returned from playing for England in the European Under21 Championship finals to find that he was surplus to requirements at United after the arrival of Nani and Anderson this summer.

Richardson appeared alongside Roy Keane when the Sunderland manager played at United. Should he join, he will become Keane’s fourth signing after the arrivals of Chopra, Greg Halford and Russell Anderson.

Anderson at ease

Anderson, Sir Alex Ferguson's £17m capture from Porto, acknowledges that he is not guaranteed games at Manchester United.

"There will be rotation because it's a long season," the 19-year-old said from Venezuela, where he is hoping to find a place in the Brazil side to play Argentina in tomorrow's Copa America final.

"All the players understand that, we're all prepared to play when called upon."

Anderson, who has arrived at Old Trafford with fellow big-money recruits Nani and Owen Hargreaves, said he was unfazed by competition for places and that Carlos Tevez, whom he could face in tomorrow's final, would be an excellent signing.

"He's a great player and you can't have too many great players," Anderson said.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

Ferguson hits pressure point by returning fire on rival

Sir Alex Ferguson claims that José Mourinho’s dig at Manchester United’s summer spending spree proves his great rival is feeling the heat at Chelsea.

The champions have spent more than £50 million on Owen Hargreaves, Anderson and Nani since the end of last season, and that will rise should Carlos Tévez, the West Ham United striker, move to Old Trafford on a two-year loan deal thought likely to cost United about £6 million.

Mourinho, the Chelsea manager, has said that United’s transfer activity will heap more pressure on them to deliver silverware, but Ferguson has hit back by claiming that the only man feeling the pressure is Mourinho.

“It was an amazing statement, actually — I don’t think he knows I’ve been here for 20 years,” Ferguson said. “It’s great. Maybe he’s trying to transfer some pressure because of the fact that he is under pressure himself. I don’t know, but I thought it was quite funny.”

United have left their rivals way behind with their heavy investment this summer — only Liverpool have attempted to match them by spending almost £40 million on Fernando Torres, Yossi Benayoun and Ryan Babel. Chelsea have spent £13 million on Florent Malouda, the Lyons winger, but Tal Ben Haim, Steve Sidwell and Claudio Pizarro have arrived at Stamford Bridge on free transfers.

Arsenal have spent £8 million on Eduardo da Silva, the Croatia striker, although the sale of Thierry Henry for £16.2 million has left them lacking their usual goal threat. Ferguson, however, claims that Arsãne Wenger, the Arsenal manager, was right to let the France striker leave the Emirates Stadium for Barcelona.

“Arsenal are still a big threat and they’ll be in the top four, even without Thierry Henry,” Ferguson said. “I just think it was time for him to go and I think Arsãne knew that. I believe they will be better.”

This is great news for Man Utd fans.

But I wonder whether it is true ? Why does Roy Keane interested in the lazy bump ? During his last days at ManUtd, he actually criticized Kieran Richardson as one of the lazy players who did not try hard enuf and branded him only as an average player !!

We are not complaining nor whining about different set of rules. Just highlighting the facts. The FA and EPL must have their reasons and most probably it is to ensure other clubs cant complain that they favour Utd.

Extra TLC towards Utd

Keane was punished twice for the same tackle on Haaland. (3 match ban for the red card and 16mths later, another 5 match ban for comments in his book. Anyone else being charged for bringing the game into disrepute for comments in their books?)

Ferdinand was banned 8 mths for missing a urine test although he was tested negative 36hrs later. His punishment was longer than those players tested positive for banned substances and recreational drugs.

Rooney and Scholes were banned for 2-3 matches at start of EPL 06/07 for red cards in pre-season Amsterdam tournament. While Liverpool's Gerrard and Mellor escaped punishment for the same offences in the same tournament in 2003. (Players suspended in UEFA Cup/CL are allowed to play in their domestic leagues. Shouldnt Rooney & Scholes be suspended for future Amsterdam tournament instead?)

Tevez is not allowed to move to Utd although his contract terms are similar to Liverpool's Mascherano.

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

Sunderland sign Richardson

After a string of summer arrivals, Kieran Richardson became the first player to walk through the Old Trafford exit door when he joined Sunderland on Monday in a four-year deal that sees the England international reunite with Reds legend Roy Keane.

Richardson, who played alongside Keane at Old Trafford between 2002 and 2005, was also thought to be a target for Everton and Middlesbrough. But Black Cats boss Keane came up trumps in the pursuit for the 22-year-old and now hopes the speedy midfielder can bolster his Championship-winning squad.

"I'm delighted we've been able to bring Kieran to Sunderland," Keane said.

"Having worked with him in the past I'm well aware of what a good player and a good lad he is. He's ready for a fresh challenge and hopefully Sunderland will provide that for him."

Richardson, who is expected to feature in Sunderland's friendly against Darlington on Wednesday, described the move as "exciting".

"I know all about Roy Keane and I'm looking forward to playing for his team. Sunderland is a big club and it's a great move for me."

Richardson joined United in July 2001 after a trainee spell at West Ham but didn't make his Reds debut until the following October when he came off the bench in a 3-2 Champions League victory over Olympiakos. Two weeks later he scored with a flying header against Leicester on his home debut.

Over the next 18 months, Richardson was handed only sporadic opportunities to prove his worth and, like so many other United youngsters, made his real mark away from Old Trafford during a loan spell.

At West Bromwich Albion, under the stewardship of Bryan Robson, Richardson excelled in the heart of the Baggies' midfield. His confidence grew during his six months at The Hawthorns and he returned to Old Trafford in May 2005 a more mature player.

Now a full England international after being handed his first senior cap by Sven Goran Eriksson, Richardson was primed to play a bigger role in United's 2005/06 campaign. Indeed, he made 36 appearances, including 22 starts, as United challenged Chelsea for the Barclays Premier League crown.

Despite continual development, Richardson was never able to hold down a regular first-team spot. He was again used sparingly in 2006/07 and the recent arrivals of Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson seemed to spell the end of his United career.

Richardson joins Sunderland having scored 11 times in 81 appearances for the Reds, the best undoubtedly a superb individual effort against Charlton on the final day of the 2005/06 season.
