Not really a good idea to withdraw 1000rmb per time.. cause if u use posd/dbs card to withdraw, there's a charge of $5 per transtion.. is ocbc i think is $20.. very the ex..

I do not understand why atm can gives out counterfeit notes.
Why can't they do a better job on detection ?
Or is it, the rmb notes is so easy to produce that they cannot differentiate ?

i'm not sure if there's a service charge on citicard becoz the exchange rate seems to be quite reasonable ...
i withdrew 1000rmb in china in my last trip ...
and citi only charge me $222.22 for 1000rmb which is equvalent to x-change rate 4.5 ...
so i dun think there's any transcation fee ...

Luckily only 5 RMB. Comes to think of it, most of the smaller notes like 10 RMB and such, the notes are pretty worn out but still circulating. I usually try to use them up as soon as possible..

If your is ATM card, then the charge is low. But, if it were to be credit card, then is $35 per transaction. Very painful. Thus, use posb ATM better, only $5.

Re: Chinese RMB rates..

The best instrument to detect fake note is the note countering machine. The staff will always count a note twice, front and back. If you got doubt, get the hotel front desk to check the notes for you.

aiyah, cash king where need to bother about transaction fee?

anyway to the point, if u use CC then have transaction fee except for ABNamro cards which dun have any fee, have to be their 'switch' card tho

Yes .. mine is a bank atm card ...
withdrawing cash from CC is using future money (loan) ... thus there will be a hefty fee for it ....

no bro ... note counting machine is not able to detect counterfeit notes ...
it's only used for counting the number of notes ...
the staff will count twice, front & back, to make sure the number is correct ...

Does BOC CC have any waiver on the withdrawal charges?.
Is ABNamro switch the only CC that waive on the transaction fee?
