Vice-President Jusuf Kalla recently joked that such short-term relationships were acceptable because the women benefited from the relationships. But women's groups have called such marriages "religiously-sanctioned prostitution", and urged clerics to denounce the practice. — DPA

Well that's a very common thing here in Batam too, especially with many of my bule friends who work here on contract basis.
Their "wives" will get a monthly "contract fee" of say S$1000 or some US$1000, on top of that all expenses are being paid for, and some of them even got cars and houses bought under their names.
After the "contract" term ends, either they have a renewal or get a new "contract" with a new "husband", or they simply retired and carry on with their private lives but with a fat bank account to live on.
I don't see this as prostitution as they only go with 1 man during the contracted period, and the contract is actually to protect their interest rather then their husband's.
So with those people trying to stop this, are they helping anyone to benefit in anyway??!

Aiyah, at times you just need one good pair of ears that will listen to your sorrows. New "wife" each night not much fun I supposed when you want to get some serious talking.

when does Puasa begins? i was informed that the MPs will be closed during Puasa; how about clubs?

I think puasa should be around September 24-25 2006, there would be a few SPA that can be open such as Emporivm, Classic, Alexis and FM1 because its a hotel facility, other SPA even they are open are dangerous to go during fasting month.
KTV and club still allowed to open but one thing I dont understand and I feel very funny Pool (Bilyard) are not allowed to open, so don't expect to go to Afterhour, Score etc

Jakarta and most major cities / places in Indonesia become desert country during the puasa month. The few oasis that are opened are expensive. Well billard saloons like AH / Scores are considered places of entertainment where you can find wine women and songs and are therefore ordered to close during the Ramadan month. Don't come it will be BORING unless of course you miss dear frens like us and want to see us badly.

Huh. Where did u got the infor that pool saloon is not allowed to open??

Last year we had beer there as early as 2 pm leh...
