Bro don't bother give money to YR lal... Most of the money go to the officers enjoyment such as food lal, transport fee for program lal, and etc. the ex convict get very little in return. Gov only wayang, on one side ask ppls give second chance to ex convict, on the other hand tahan ppl from hiring ex convict.
I still remember on July 2007 when I was freed after nearly ten yrs in prison, first day step out can feel the freedom. Rest for a month then go to search for job, so hard to find one. Have one I can't forget is that the oversea company want to hire me but kana tahan by gov said I danger ppl. Lucky my lady boss Vivian took the bullet and hire me. I want to prove her she make the right choice. I work very hard and become the second person in charge in my company.
Any bro want to try working at rws or MBS will know how is the CRA doing to prevent job for local.
And now, I have a family with two kids working in a mnc with a healthy salary. I am planning to move oversea once the time is right. Since I am treated as a second class citizen in my own country, might as well I go oversea as a expat.

Sorry to dig this old thread.
Anyone know if the person is a PR, will he send back to his own country after served his sentence?

I think this is assured, the person has to leave the country, but not necessary his own country, assuming other countries allowed the person to enter.

Just go where you heart leads you.. Life might really be better overseas when you don't have to slog your life in order to bring food to the table. Also have plans for this future. Sg is a place for foreigners and we are no longer welcomed here... Might as well take out all our precious money in CPF and get the hell out of here...

Glad things really work out for you in the end. It is indeed a lot of hard work to get to where you are today. We would like to call Singapore our home but somehow we locals always felt short changed.

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison

Thanks for sharing. I was an ex convict myself too. But that was the era b4 the CPC. Spent 2 years in boy's home, 1 year in mcp and 1 1/2 year in kaki bukit prison school.

Yellow ribbon project is total bullshit and Score doesn't really help either. So my advice is to avoid incarceration. No matter how tempting, how serious is your situation. Once you are in , you will have to face being outcast by our own government that we have voted ourself. Ironic isn't it ? LOL

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison

Thanks all for Sharing.

Whether you are ex-convicts or normal citizens, Singapore Prison is not a place for us where we wanted to go. During my time there, they provide me go classes and upgrade activities but the courses don't suit as I know what will they be teaching. I just find some prisoners wanted to return there as either they do not have a family outside or they are being outcast by the society. For those people who think that going there is just like taking a short vacation; it is not. Once you had your freedom taken away, lock up in a small room for many days, you will think that how you miss the freedom life outside. Think twice before you commit any crime.
