this is so true.
years back i know a friend (40s) who happened to "kanna" a pub lady owner (40s) who was separated from her husband at that time. my friend started to show us new handphones, expensive clothes and shoes... told us the lady boss bought him all those things and maybe may give him part ownership of the pub later on.

well, actually i was a regular drinker there before him, and i was already bonking the lady boss's daughter then. i probed about my friend's story and the daughter told me her mother was quite broke, owed money and had wanted to find a buyer for the pub for some time. my friend was the one paying for meals and stuff whenever they went out.

i have actually cut off ties with this guy due to his lack of respect for friends. i'm just citing his story as an example with no ill intent. perhaps his case is more like beat-the-face-swollen-act-fat-boy instead of robert. but it is just amazing some men can spend so much money w/o qualm when dealing with women. this friend of mine was a married man, but now divorced and i believe he is getting several calls from banks for card payment. sad.

this one is robert story of my friend... who is not hiding somewhere in malaysia.

it all happened when i took him to a KTV (Not my fault, he insisted on me briniging him because i get special price for beer). Anyway... because of that visit he also got special price for the beer.. hence he went back more and more often. At first i tot.. strange the beer not exceptionaly cheap..S$21 a jug... i asked him to goto another joint which i can get S$18 a jug but then he say dont want. keep going back to the KTV. then i got to know from the bar tender (which is a member) that he has fallen for a Singer.

Everynight he would goto the KTV, sit at the lounge with a jug of beer and then hang S$200 flower every night.... he is a salary worker who earns MAX 3K a month, has condo has car and wife... so about 2K of his salary would have went to paying for the condo, car and house. how can he survive.

Asked him out one day TCSS and tried to advise him not to be a ROBERT.. at that moment he seem like he understand... but then the very same night he down at the KTV again.

a couple of weeks past. and then my bar tender friend called me one night,... ask me come over.. say my friend crazy already.. hang 10K worth of flowers.
i rushed up and tried to persuade hinm not to do it.. but according to him.. he say.. he needs cash. and the singer (girlfriend) say if he hang 10K flower she will return 9K to him.... first time no problem... everything ok. then second time.. the singer say she have not gotten her pay so cannot pass him.. ask him max another card..... and it went on until he owed bank 50K.
at this time i already dont care him because nothing goes into his mind...
anyway one night i got a call from the bar tender and he said my friend must have gotten cheated because the singer is going back to china tomorow and she has gotten her pay promptly every month.

so i did what a friend would do... i went up told my friend about the girl... and asked the girl to pay my friend what she promised him. and this was what she said,....translated ofcause to english...

"You hang flower is of your own free will, i never agree to anything, the first time i return you your money was because i pity you, but you keep hanging so not my fault. Money i already send back china, you want come to china to find me"

my friend was heart broken at that moment.. all along he tot the singer loved him.... .... if you reading this.. I TOLD YOU SO .. SO LONG AGO.. but NOOOOo you would not listen.

Seem like this kind of incident have been repeating all the while. TV shows also have this kind of stories countless times. I guess when comes to emotion, everyone have its weakness.

On the other side you have cheongsters out to cheat gal for free bong or steal their hard earn cash. (as posted some time ago) It's hard to tell who is the evil of each side.

I must confess I was a robert once too. i stopped going ktvs except the cheaper ones, not those where a ladies drink is $60 a pop and on average I spend about 1k a week on just one KTV.

I've just stopped going out with this 20 yr old poly girl who drinks hard liquor like a fish, average two btls a week and plus taxi and her weekly mani and pedi it comes to about $800 a week. Luckily it lasted 3 months, or else I'll be digging a big hole for myself.

Tis is a practice tat some guys in the industry do practice becos everything becomes "clean" and esp some of those that have high Ent budget, they can channel tis into their own pockets.......buit only 2 b practiced w those gals u r familiar n can trust.........

Anyway reminding is 1 thing, waking up is something u can't do for them

It is very sad that he has to run into hiding to escape the creditors and I suppose loan sharks after becoming a robert.
