Haha he's a Colonel in charge of a ship of some sort? Col pay isn't that high you know, definitely not the highest paid in the force. I hearsay $12-15k or so. I don't think you can have 4 fully paid condos with that kind of pay at that kind of age. And immediate rentals or not are not based on his army rank.

And no. I'm not a career soldier. My personal income is $500 a month. I don't even get combat pay. That should qualify me as a very low income worker.

Employment income, with very few exceptions has long since stopped being a useful indicator of personal wealth in this present economy, regardless of where one is.

I think a frigate or destroyer might cost more than a plane. Besides, You'll be surprised at how little pilots are paid in the SAF. That's why they quit once their 10 year bond is up and join SIA. I think his total take home is maybe $20k at most.

Haha that does not change the fact that my income is considered low. We NSFs are generally low paid and (sometimes/ usually) overworked.

True. But join SIA means start as First Officer nia. $8k a month. Different puay kee. Re-climb ladder. At least he still has a job after 50. Now you know why he worried.
