which shopping area do you want to go? and you get chopped in some areas if you don't have good bargaining skills
Hi Webpost, shopping areas Im know where is it. Just need some recommendation on hotels base on my budget if u know any (250rmb to 400rmb), so far i see are Metropark, Sunon and Colour Inn. Do you know any tour agency that give discount for the entrance fee to those places of interests such as 'window of the world', China Folk Culture', etc (Spelling something like that).

If u travel by tigerairway, u will reach SZ very late or so call very early in the morning. One way is u can go to a nearby massage parlour (by taxi and not those private tout) and enjoy the clean massage and stay over for one night with a min spending of 100rmb (info May 2013). Maybe you can state your duration cos staying near to airport is very far away from Bro Cheong recommendation. Just curious, unless u are just transit from SZ, else y stay near the airport where most of the happening places is in Luo Hu (about 28 train stations away from airport).

If u do not touch down in HK in wee hours, its best that u took a public bus A43 (you can put ur luggage undernearth the bus) from HK airport to Sheung Shui MTR station and took the KCR East train to Luo hu station. It cost about 60-70HKD and it will took about 1hr journey from airport to SZ.

Without really knowing much about your specific requirements, I'd suggest that you stay in Kowloon side, preferably close to the Hunghom train station. So I'd suggest the TsimShaTsui area where there is plenty of choices ranging from the really crappy (even sort of scary - even though Hong Kong is a very safe city!!) hostels in ChungKing Mansion to the 5 stars of the Peninsula Hotel.
Tsimshatsui IS one of the best well known and favored shopping mecca in the Shopping Mecca that Hongkong is and an easy taxi (or public transport) ride to Hunghom station where you get on the MTR East rail (the old Kowloon Canton Railway) for an easy 50 minutes ride to the Shenzhen border.

If u sign up and become a member of agoda, most of the prices i check against etrip and elong (din sign up as member) or other website, agoda still provide cheapest prices most of the time.

what SEAJ suggested is very right.. if you do not have budget, i think there is a Grand Harbour that is near Hung Hom.. from Hung Hom MTR can take the blue line all the way to Lo Wu.. no need change line..
but if budget is an issue, suggest you to stay around mongkok (if no budget can try Langham, otherwise Stanford is probably half of Langham), tsimshatsui (if no budget can try Mira Hotel, quite nice.. otherwise can try bp international or kimberly hotel)area, or Prudential Hotel or Shamrock Hotel at Jordan MTR there.. then just take a taxi to a nearby blue line mtr, or take whatever line nearest to you and change train.. not that tedious also..
and like what hawk88 bro said, if you arrive early, might as well stay in Lo Wu.. hotel cheaper, room bigger, customer service also better imho.. passing through the custom quite easy.. just probably got to queue a bit.. again, if no budget and want near, Shangri La is just beside the custom.. if no budget but dun mind far, Grand Hyatt is damn chio.. if want budget, try Kaili Hotel.. take cab there the meter won't jump.. or can take train, 1 stop to Guo Mao.. it's just beside the big shopping centre.. location very good..

otherwise, i just tried Pengker Deluxe Collection Hotel.. the rooms are decent, newly renovated.. but this one can be quite confusing as not many cab drivers know.. you can actually walk from the station to there.. very near to the luohu station.. train track just beside.. which is quite a negative point if you are in your room during the day.. after 11pm no train liao then ok lar..
my ultimate choice in SZ still Kaili for budget and Grand Hyatt without budget..

If u going there to source for cheap products, then I think you should be staying at Lao Jie, Guo miao area, etc where all the happening places, in terms of shopping for clothings, electronics stuff, etc and not staying near airport unless ur associate is there. Even tho i had been to SZ twice before but never stay overnight b4, I still scout for cheaper and better option stay if other bros could provide good info. Cheers!!
I personally feel that and I can confirm that Hand phone/hand phone accessories in Zhu Hai is cheaper than SZ. Trust me or zap me.

Thks Hardpoke for ur input introducing Kaili and Pengker Deluxe Collection Hotel. After reading lots of review on location, price, cleanliness of the hotel, etc, I feel that that Metropark and Sunon is better than ur recommendation (Any bros can verify that?).
After surfing from various sources, Colour Inn Hotel, a reasonable new and clean hotel (150rmb - 225rmb if u on budget and need a clean and NEW Hotel), this is the place.
Another good and clean hotel will be Zense Inn for 210rmb which is near to Shekou. More suitable for those visiting 'Windows of the World', etc but about 17 stations from Lao Jie.

no problem.. just my personal recommendations since I stayed in these personally for a long while liao.. it really depends where is your main destination, for me i had to be near Lo Wu, so staying Kaili was the best option for me.. in the hotel itself got spa, no need go until queens spa.. beside got shopping centre.. walking distance got chicken hot pot.. also near to Luohu Cun for BBS if you may.. somehow it fulfilled my requirement fully, so i recommend to you.. the room not so chio though, but not a priority for me..
pengker was just to explore an alternative, not too bad..
