There are no jeepneys or trikes in BKK.
Are you staying put in Nana vicinity or intending to explore BKK.... you can get the day pass for the MTR with unlimited travel if you intend to do a lot of travelling.

Anyway BKK / Patts is way way safer than AC as long as you stay away from the baklas.

thks guys for the infos, i be concentrating to cover bars both in bangkok n pattaya, think not much time to explore others. Not many barfines unless temptation takes over, sort of recuperation trip after AC. bakla I keep away from them too in AC
could u recomend a budget hotel walking distance from nana area?

Pattaya wins hands down on agogo and beer bars. The worse gogos on soi8 beats easily 80% of the gogos on nana or cowboy.

Bangkok win on soapies.

yes i noted that in the thread, but its my first trip, so will hv the curious mindset to see the difference, anyway reserved more time for pattaya.

You can play in any 15-20 pattaya golf courses in a 1hr diameter for under SGD125-150 all in incl transfers.

I just discovered recently that the PI has some very good golf courses and they are very affordable too.

Wow, will just miss you as I will be in Patts end of April and will be in AC by the time u reach Patts. Didn't know about the damn elections in AC during the week of May 9th, with possible bar slowdowns and closures with the 5 days alcohol ban. Had I known in advance I would have switch my schedule around between Patts and AC and could have met up in Patts, but already bought tixs with no changes or refunds. Oh well, next time.
But not to worry though as Patts is way way safer than AC. No problems walking around day or night. Unlike AC, u will "usually" have no problems even walking down small dark streets. As others had warned you, just avoid the LBs as they are often very aggressive and physical and beware as they also travel in packs. The LBs in AC are relatively tame and civilized compare to their counterparts in Thailand.
Since u have already mastered AC, Patts should be easy for u. Only real difference is AC bars and girls are all concentrated in small area but Patts is scatter over a larger area which requires taking the baht bus =their version of the jeepneys in AC. Also baht bus more safe compare to AC jeepneys which are known for pickpockets and sometimes robbery.
I would say the main danger in Patts is being run over by a motorbike.

Main difference for 1st timer is always the language barrier as English is NOT the primary language spoken here, many of the girls only pretend to understand you but use of hand signals will help and of course "money TALKS"- ha ha

Also another difference you will see for yourself is some Patts go-go places on Walking St have nude stage dancers which sadly you will never see anymore in AC.

Sorry, can't help you with Nana as I am not that familiar with BKK as I mainly spend more time in Patts.

No problems bro. Plenty of time to meet up later.
Just note that many maps will not tell u that most of the big streets are ONE WAY traffic only. ex; Beach Rd runs only one way going North to South and the next big street parallel to Beach Rd is 2nd Rd and that runs one way only going South to North. All smaller connection streets betwwen all major rds are usually 2 way traffic.
But everything is pretty simple there and only takes about 1-2hrs to familiar with it all once u are there.

Golfers - here's a pretty good guide to the courses in Pattaya. Dont have to go with them but generally its a good guide and their prices are resonable.
