Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
5) I am speaking of this by experiece. I was sentenced 7 years and 12 strokes. I came out a few years ago, was honest in my interviews, and couldnt get any jobs. When I finally lied, I got a job.[/QUOTE]
So agree with you, tell the truth and no way you will get a job. See, to lie a white lie will get you somewhere. Hahaha my 2 pts for you wish you well. |

Bro not really true, is actually depend what kind of job you looking for... As for me when I came out from inside, my 2nd interview I get the job, becos boss say I very honest. Is also depends what case you kena. Btw I interview a outdoor sales job. Sometime also depends on luck. But i left the company, start my own small business. Now the company still doing good and 80% of their salesman seat before. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
I remember in the 2000 where we talked of knowledge based economy, is about IT connect to gov agency. Liked i wrote sharing of infos, thing is minor crimes in the 90s and b4?
Somehow don't think is capture in the database. Now a person after his time, say he/ she con into a job. There may come a day where the co decided to check his background. A good option will be PI. Be opened and talk to your boss, is up to him or her whether to take u in or not. Serious 15 yrs ago, i had took in a young man who had done some times in those 1/2 way house. The i think Boys home town or something? Dispointed he is lazy, did not turn up for work never call up. Well he is smart but, poor attitudes and finally, he did not turn up for 1 week. We have to terminate him. Don't make much different btw him or regular person. Is all whether he wish to be good or bad. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
Maybe? People which done bad things are smart, could be smarter then the average person. It is the bad attitudes they have, the refuse to learn follow instructions.
I remember the Quan Yi Fong and, Chris Lee variety talk show where they wanted to help a young man. He was tatto covered, they found him at home sleeping and, wanted to make him a good chef. Some brothers wrote his sister is quite pretty. I think many brothers will remember this. Now, i think the big shot chef said he got the making of a good chef. Problem he don't want to learn. How to teach him? He does not want to accept his master. |

When I came out from prison...... I went to work in an MNC where my buddy's sister was in the HR department...... she told me not to mention my time in prison and happen she was the one interviewing me together with my soon-to-be department manager so I got the job. I worked hard and was "on the ball" type and even won an employee of the month award....... I was held in high esteem by my department manager and the Ang Moh CEO........ until one day when I had a dispute with another department's supervisor and he went to the management to complain with several allegations against me and also about my time in prison which I dunno how he knew about. A few days later I was called up for an interview by the HR director, my department manager and the security manager....... as the 3 of them questioned me on the supervisor's allegations...... I rebutted all of them. Finally the security manager asked me if I had been in prison before...... and I answered him YES!.......... and when my manager asked why I lied about it in my application....... I asked him back would he have hired me if I had told the truth........ he just kept quiet...... then the security manager held up a piece of paper and said this is your screening result from the police..... you have got CRO record with them. So if he can show me my screening result..... I think the companies can check your background. Anyway this episode had a good ending for me..... I was told to go home after the interview...... the next morning I received a call at home asking me to report to the HR department...... as I proceeded there I was expecting to receive my termination letter....... instead the HR director brought me to see the Ang Moh CEO......... and I received the news that they want me to stay on as I had been an exemplary employee. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
Brother Lone Wolf! Good4u, your ang mo boss has guts, the foresight if i must write here, infact all biz men that i come across possess such guts. This is 1 reason i am 4ever an employee, he is the 1 which walked tall.
Female employers? I am not too sure, lets move on. My impression of ppl who done crimes, i think they are street smart. Stayed on the toes, danger comes they being first 1 to escape. Of course not all the time. But come to human relationshps, i think they scored 0, they break the hearts of their parents. The ppl who love and cared for them. Still i believe it is up to that person. He/ she should ask does it have to be this way? Let the parents feel shameful, disppointed that what have they done wrong to deserve this. Finally, i borrowed and changed from the script of a Hollywood movie, named forgot and it star Tom Cruise. "Your mom carry u in her for 10 mths, the least u can do is bring her flowers". Taken from Tom Cruise to Jamie Foxx. |

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
I was an ex-commit as well... I was sentence to jail for 14days and fine $5000 for committing CBT. It was lucky for me as I saw the same person who commit CBT was sentenced for 6months. I was in Changi Prison and was transfered to AWP as i am a Malaysian. Now i have regret as i cannot enter Singapore for life....

Re: 164 Days in Singapore Changi Prison
I am not encouraging this, seniors will heard of Mark Chin 30yrs ago Pyramid scheme saga. Serve him right for not paying his ex well, i think she knew much of him. His $ that he did not declare to Tax dept.
This place papers are timid, over at Hollywood some body will throw him this Qs. Why did he serve 2jail terms 30yrs ago? It is your ex who had help u get back on your feet? Some ppl just don't learn from mistakes. |
