You still high on your Qatari desert sloshjuice? Since when was Keppel Subic closed? Even when they had the accident last year which killed 6 of their workers the place was kept operating on 24-hour shifts. Fyi, Keppel will be expanding both facilities in Subic and Batangas to cope with the increased demand for ship maintenance and servicing. They will also be converting their shipbuilding portion into maintenance services. |

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
Want to share an incident that happened recently just a few days ago. A regular cheongstar (I shall call him SR) to AC was drugged and robbed while barhopping. Initially he had no recollection of what happened that night but over the next few nights as he retraced his steps, he bagan to recall in bit n pieces what had happened.
SR was an ex-military man from India who is a frequent visitor to AC, what we would term a "laojiao" in our lingo. On a normal day he can down 15-20 bottles of SML and still have his senses and remain alert. He is well built, stocky and looks fit. Generally he is a nice guy to barhop with except that he likes to talk n boast which is typical of Indians as we know. On the night that he arrived in AC, he went straight from the airport to his hotel, dropped his bags and headed into the nearby Brown Sugar bar. He drank only bottled SML and by his 4th bottle, he knew something was wrong as he was getting disorientated and losing his co-ordination. He quickly got out of Brown Sugar to try to return to his hotel. As he stumbled along and came to the darker lane (leading to Barhopping), he was surrounded by a group of baklas who pulled him into the lane. SR felt hands reaching for his shirt pocket where his money was kept and rear jeans pocket where his wallet was. He was vaguely aware of trying to fend them off but just could not because of his condition. The doorgirls of Barhopping witnessed the incident and called for assistance, SR was brought into the Barhopping bar where he was let to rest and recover. But he could not remember anything when he regained his senses. He had lost his wallet which had about $2000 USD and about 12000p which was in his shirt pocket. As he slowly traced his steps over the next couple of days and visiting the Brown Sugar again, his memory started to return and he believes his drink was spiked while in Brown Sugar. He mentioned that he had seen the staff of Brown Sugar with some baklas when he was walking to the bar from his hotel. Although he could not tell if they were the same group of baklas that robbed him, he strongly belives so. As someone who is used to drinking large amounts of alcohol, it is impossible to be knocked out after only 4 SMLs. Bros do take note and cheong safely. |

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
AC is really so easy for us to be targeted. 2 days and I get tried on twice.
Last night walking along videoke street about midnight, 3 baklas approached me offering their services. I ignored them and soon one of them asked me why I had an empty plastic bag in my pocket. It was in his hand and he threw it on the ground. He was so disappointed and they walked off. Lucky me poor man and confirmed cheap Charlie. Quite penniless at times. I did not even notice his hand in my cargo pants pocket. Today noon I left the money changer and took the friendship jeep. I got on the almost empty jeep and wondered why a man would choose to squeeze to sit close to me when there was so much free space. I moved across to sit behind the driver and that guy followed to sit beside me. I took my things out of my pants and into my bag. He looked so frustrated and left the jeep at ABC Hotel. The rest of the locals were smiling at me and said I am lucky to know the threat. I post my experiences to better prepare our brothers about similar attacks on them. ( So happy that Datou is here now. Safety in numbers ) |

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
My dearest brothers... I noticed more Angeles City news is beginning to appear in the Olongapo thread.. may this very junior forumer kindly request that AC related news be posted on the AC thread? I am concerned that there will be confusion regarding AC and Olongapo with is, as I understand rather different - Someone new who is not familiar, may think that Olongapo/Subic is the same as AC...

Rates there are still sensible in Subic/Olongapo unlike AC which is crazy now. The norm for LT in Subic is 1500p and you hardly get any runners....... on the contrary the BGs will stick with you the next day until the time they report for work. You have to chase them away if you have other plans for the day. |

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
You are 1st timer to Subic/Olongapo? Then I suggest that you make your base at Barrio Barrieto. It is conveniently located for you to explore both the beaches and the city area.

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
Truth is even if not a 1st timer, I would still strongly suggest staying in BB area as its much easier to bar hop and not worry about being too far from home base. Afterall, you can walk all the bars and the entire length of BB in about 10mins. I always try not to stray too far from the action

Also, the Dryden bus route from AC to Subic (or return ) is a pretty good value as they also give drink vouchers for mostly buy 1 drink and use coupon for 2nd free drink (think the last time drink vouchers add up to almost 500p by itself) so if one likes to drink then the ride is almost free (or very cheap). |
