Re: Going to JB? Becareful!]
I live in JB and consider it much safer than my old home (The UK), sure Singapore is safe, except for the hundreds of people who disappear every year never to be seen again.
This sort of thing happens the world over and of course it does happen here, I have a friend who took some money out of the bank (Indian lady) and she was followed (did not know) by motorbikes all the way her house and was robbed of her money and jewelry right outside her gate, this was about 6km from the bank, so they had followed her all the way, she thinks there were five bikes each with two people on! This was in daylight in a 'Nice' neighborhood, so yes it does happen. But really for the thousands of people who visit JB everyday they will never, ever have anything happen to them. Come over here and enjoy the lovely fun to be had, just act how you would in any other country, don't flash your Cash and Jewelry around and keep your eyes open. As for the car you drive, really, I don't think it means a big deal, everyday here I see nice Singapore registered cars do you think they all get attacked? Of course not. I feel safer walking around the streets of JB than I ever did in England. Party On! |

Re: Going to JB? Becareful!]
JB is a nice place to go relax. Crimes are there but they are all over the world. Its just that newspaper make them more scary. Dun Flash Yr Cash n u will be alrite. Dont be a snob, just act who u r. For those people who are robbed, i consider it bad luck. You can only minimise yr risk. But if its yr turn, pray to god for your safety ba..

Well say !
Someone say i spread rumours and zapped me ok so i tell u something i know 1 - i had a army frenz who drive a second hand car so one day drove to JB with his buddies for supper an 1.5hrs later when return he ended cannot find his car and i only know tat when i saw him in the bus stop waiting for bus in Singapore ! 2 - 1 of my female colleague which is a malaysian ( indian lady ) was kenna robbed early in the morning when going home ( work in singapore nut stay in JB ) not only the money robbed her passport was taken as well 3 - My tennant told me tat her bro car was stolen while he is sleeping ( car park outside the house ) and later on found at other places but with an empty shell so lan lan re-do his car And one fine day he goes for lunch with his siblings and park his car a distance away . After tat he realise his forgotten to take his wallet and went back to his car and found out his car window was smashed ( it just only a few minute only ) 2 shirts is lost but his wallet still around cos it was hidden below the seat ) I also agreed that in many places the crime rate is even higher like USA but still a lot of ppl goes there but why we r concern of JB - 1 reason tats is because JB is our neighbour thousands of ppl going in everyday So when something happen there of cos we r more concern that wat happen in other places likes - U.K / U.S.A etc etc etc No one like their country to be label as unsafe but even i dun post u can see the news from the newspaper so lets face it in this world there is no country is totally safe For those who upped me i thank u for yr precious points And the 1 zapped me - just too bad but dun really want to be bother by this This will be my last posting on this and also a Happy 2010 Cheers |

I think we can come into conclusion that crime can happen anywhere. no need for this tread 2 continue lah.. just a waste of time, effort and bandwidth.. we're better off reading newspaper lah if we wan this kind of stories.. thanks to the thread starter for the heads up..

hi,don't quite agree with wat u said ..... altogether. I do agree tat JB is safer than UK, esp 4 asians. like wat u said, there could be 100s of ppl tat disappear every year in sg. but there could be thousands of such cases in jb itself. I do agree tat robbery do happen everywhere & anywhere, even in tis FINE country. 4 the car issue, I would think tat it's a big deal,go ask the police on the roads in my.BIG cars get "summon" easily, whereas small cars get unnoticed easily. If u were 2 compare JB & UK,i would think tat it's nothing great 2 compare abt. A sheep among wolves is so easy 2 be spotted & target. |
