Yeah, points are useless. But it's the "moderation" via zapping thing which is stupid. If "moderation" was done by moderators alone, I'm all for it if the moderators could be inversely-moderated by the majority (y'know... "Who watches the Watchmen"?) to avoid abuse of power.

The crap thing is that you could have a single Samster who have access to hundreds of 5 year old accounts that can basically zap you into "moderation"... leaving your Inbox space large enough to house a baby pigeon and your postings in the forum to arrive a couple of centuries later to pop out in the thread.

If this "moderation" phase is left out, I think a lot of us would be happier. Basically, I treat these points I have as a buffer zone between me and moderation, rather than a symbol of status. I have made one or two enemies here with multiple accounts, so... just a matter of time, I guess!

Some of us here comes here to contribute and share, some jus to make a living here, some are crazy with point , some are not, some are just here just to make a a living hell for other forumners, some like to go begging for points and contact, some take comments here far too seriously and some dont just give a fuck about anybody here.

From the way i see things in this forum, it has indeed mature itself to be more like the society that we are living in our real life, as wat i hav mention above it has become so much part of us thats some of us are treating it way too seriously.

Few most important points to note...

"8. Flames and off topic posts will result in point deductions from me or my moderator.

9. Reputation votes are secret. In other words, you can vote either way without fear or favour. HOWEVER, those who abuse the system by making vicious attacks and spewing vulgarities anonymously will have their nicks exposed and placed under moderation if the victim complains to the moderators. If you want to FUCK someone via the reputation system, then have the guts to reveal your nick when doing so and you won't be penalised.

10. Those who use the reputation system to frame innocent parties may also be exposed.

11. Those caught registering multiple nicks in order to build up their "war chest" to abuse the system will be placed in deep moderation mode (-999 reputation points)"

ps. Is this a off topic threat???

pps. How many SPC and NTUC voucher can I redeem?? Economy bad, need buy milk powder leh.

The points here can do nothing. You cannot use it to exchange for NTUC vouchers, Link points, Credit Card points, Cash, or ANYTHING else. It's only a NUMBER. So why get so worked up over points?

what i meant is why cant we just forget and forgive ? my point 148 whether negative or positive is not important at all... but i find it so weird to see neg -2000 pointer around. just one mistake and led him to the red zone... and i really find this typically singaporean ... erm do we have this kind of stuff in other forum ?

Hmmm... I doubt it's being enforced though. The remarks made in the zaps on my CP shows that it was done by the same person (same spelling errors).

Enforced??? Did you report the zapping to anyone? There are 100,000 active members in this forum. Nobody is going to plough through a million odd entries in the reputation point database unless attention is brought to a violation of the terms.

I'm not too sure about the rep system since I just joined the forum. Although the rep points cannot be exchanged for monetary gains, having low or negative rep points make it harder for one to get contact from other samsters.
