Well, my policy, if I have friends, in Manila, Tabu / MBC or Havana - pool and get a bottle of Black Label or Bacardi .. and I can trust the liquor is good (the other places, like Meralco Ave, and Icon, Ascend / LAX, etc. etc. my hosts paid ..

The MBC manager was not falling for me, when we walked into a bar, in another place, and I said I want to get a bottle .. she insisted we stick to beer, and only later did she say that small time bars "refill" or keep open bottles for long

Ever tasted open bottle after a few months ? yes, it taste like acid water ..

Filipinos are not bad to make counterfeit liquor, they have standard, but the standards don't extend to keeping proper stocks ..

As for liquor, Filipinos can say fuck all, but they never learn to 'time manage' liquor. I was in one bar in Peurto, and Black Label taster like acid water .. and well, I insisted that I see the bottle .. and the bottle label look like 1950's label. They never dispose expired bottle, and keep it forever, as they believe, or taught in their HRM schools that Hard liquor never expires .. screw them .. hence I ask to see the bottle and if the label looks like it has lived through Vietnam War and Marcos Era, I give it a miss ..

As for Tanduay, at another bar, I ordered Mojito, and one sniff, I almost had to call the ambulance .. when I asked what was the rum, the staff said "rum" and then insisted that in his school, they said any rum is ok ..

I got the urge to shoot the bastard ..

Never use local rum, in cocktails, and nothing like Bacardi or any good coconut rum .. and never, for fxxxk sake, use TANDUAY TOILET BOWL SPIRIT ..

I know, beachside, sipping Mojito, and my evening was spoilt again in Bora .. when the same shit happened at Obama Grill ..

Damn .. I avoid cocktails at any filipino bar .. and premium - except in Manila / Havana / MBC, I am bit wary of ordering them in any third class bar ..


PS: Chief, 400 to 500 peso ? that is about 15 $ right ? How much do you think is the wholesale price of Liquor ?? Screw Duty Free .. but, if you are getting from a wholesale importer, they can get bottles at 22 S$ or so .. to 30 S$ .. then again, in Philippines, they use a lot of 375 ml bottles, and even bump of 200 ml bottles, so, small bottle at that price, yeah, possible ..

And never argue with filipinos, they will swear that there is 750 ml or 1 liter bottle .. and they have been all over the world (in terms of screwing guys from all over the world .. without leaving their home .. )

Actually, Indians have been heading to Study in Philippines, much longer, to AUF and The Clark Aviation Institute .. then again, these are the better behaved types and the type who can afford, but no seats back home, they head overseas to study ..

Indians get visa on arrival to Thailand, hence the naughty one's don't spoil Philippines Rest easy ..

The filipina knows, which indian is the 'crap type' and which one the behaved type .. though they like to act blur

AS for Single Malt - you are unlikely to get in loose in Philippines, like Maccallan, or Laphroaig .. (rarely have I seen Laphroaig .. even in Singapore .. )

And drink with an ice cube and water .. or neat ..

Then, if you are in nice bar in Manila like LAX/Icon/Tabu, and Opus bar, you will attract a lot of 'talent'
