The master backer behind the PAD is the king n queen themself. Why do u think the army is not out to help? How come u see the govt is powerless to do anything? Even the army head can asked the prime minister cum defence minister to resign? Insubordination right and yet nothing happens to him. It's just a propagenda to put evey blame on thaksin alone. Infact every politician, police, army and the biggest culprit is in the palace is corrupt to the core. They focus on telling the world thaksin is corrupt and took billions from the people. Well the one who took the MOST is the KING. He is the richest man on earth.Fordes magazine recently exposed it. He is richer than bill gate, wall mart and the sultan of brunei. He possesses the biggest diamond in the world. He is so rich and yet there are so many poor ppl in thailand In every cinema and everyday the TV will promote them, pure propagenda. Did anyone notice that the uni student is not out in the street ? Most of the protestor are old ppl and children with thugs protecting them while they march. If this govt is reli bad the first to come out will be the student themselves. The palace is very jealous and afraid to lose power bcos of thaksin. He had wanted to turn thailand into a republic and he was becoming very popular with the poor. Sori for being so long winded. |

Re: Bangkok Field Report
In a Bangkook Post Survey ...
About 70% of people questioned in a survey conducted by Bangkok University disagreed with the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD)’s moves to topple the government. According to the survey, 72.6% of respondents disagreed with PAD’s blocking of the roads to oust the government. About 70% disagreed with the group’s breaking into the state-run NBT. About 68.2% also disagreed with their move to besiege the government and state buildings. Responsible opposition party should explain the errors of ruling party to public and get support from the public and not resort to such protest and violence. They should not damage public property. PAD must think in mind that Govt House, airports, radio stations and banks do not belong to PM Somchai. What they r doing now is hurting the country and making the people suffer. The leaders of PAD should be arrested and the party resolve. |

Prime Minster Somchai has instructed the Defence Ministry to draft a state of emergency law to be approved by the Cabinet after he returns to Thailand Wednesday, a source said.
The source said Somchai would fly to Chiang Mai from Peru and would use a military plane to travel to Bangkok to call an urgent Cabinet meeting. The meeting would be called to approve the new state of emergency announcement. The Nation

Re: Bangkok Field Report
the PAD can continue their protest at govt house. actually, looking at the pictures of protestors, i think many are paid to protest ..maybe 500 bht a day, really a staged protest like what we see in jkt during the "refomasi" days
people are not so free to protest everyday, still need to eat and survive right? just dont go to sukhumvit, ratchada and clear out from the roads to the airport. i want the airport to reopen at least, we can still cheong in bkk.... 8 dec is a public holiday in spore , i think many sporean (like myself) will make short trip to bkk , with this, let see what happens. i noted that the baht is falling in value this morning. 1 sing = 23 baht...great for cheongsters ! let hope for the best |

How do I go about requesting for a change of flight schedule? Tiger Airways, predictably, has fallen way short in service standards and I have been trying to get through their call-centre hotline the entire morning without success. I bought mine for cheap but I don't reckon they'll charge me extra rates if I rescheduled to fly on a weekend or during peak periods, will they? |

Re: Bangkok Field Report
I think Thai Airways still can reach BKK
So far, Thai AirAsia cancelled 17 domestic flights and 11 international flights from 6am to 2pm. Passengers can call Thai AirAsia’s hotline service at 02-515-9999. Bangkok Airways called off 24 domestic and international flights before afternoon. Passengers can contact the airline at 02-265-8777 or 1771. Thai Airways International announced that its flights heading to Suvarnabhumi will be diverted to Don Mueang airport or U-Tapao airport. People can call the airline’s call center at 02-356-1111.
