Cheongsters I have met up before, in the past we always talked about starting a business in Thailand.
And I believed many people want to start a business in Thailand too.
I would say most had this mindset of starting a business in Thailand is because of
1) Tirak
2) So can stay in Thailand because Thailand low cost of living
3) So can find ways/avenues/opportunities to cheong.
It's only when it comes to the last part, profits that can generate from the businesss then people start to think harder.
To put it simply, if the first thing that comes to mind for a business was only money-driven and not tirak-driven then I think the business is worth planning and doing.
For those who are thinking of giving up their career/ business in Singapore to strike it out in an investment in Thailand, it simply is not worth it. Risk Takers are encouraged but stupidity is not.
No matter what we are not Khon Thais. Their government protects their interests, not ours, for in their eyes we are forever aliens.
I believe that no matter how much love there is between 2 parties, by giving up everything in Singapore to go to Thailand and settle roots doing business all for the sake of love, it will never work out. Especially if business fails, no money, the honey love you how much also will run away.
If I am dumping $50K SGD into a Singapore business and I dump $50K SGD into a Thailand business, and the Singapore Business earns more and generates more profit, it makes no cow sense to invest in the Thai Business because of tirakship. However this is what many people are doing/going to do.

I wouldn't say setting up a business is difficult in thailand if you know the do and don'ts well. Multiple factors contributes to the success of the venture. You strike at the right time in the right trade, you're in for a big windfall. The whole business experience I had there was quite pleasent.
But I do agree if you wanna go into business, make sure its well worth the effort. Forking out money and effort and what you get back is peanuts, I'll better off be working for somebody instead. What I feel many not reflect what others think. Its just my opinion.

I think I am not in a position to feed people here with ideas/suggestions/ on how to lead their life with their loved ones.

I've not heard about that. Its always 49-51... but what we did is although we're 49%, the other 51% is spread among 4 Thai partners thus we're still major share holder.
Start up capital is 2 million baht.
