While I am sad and empathize with the victims of the blast..... earlier during my visit I was actually pissed off by the behavior of some of the Chinese (PRC) visitors to the shrine.

Those of you who had been there will know there is a huge jar of "blessed" water at a corner of the shrine and you use a ladlecup to scoop the water out of the jar if you need the water. There were some PRCs who literally dip their arms and hands into the jar to wash themselves and let their children play with the ladlecups splashing the water at each other.

Perhaps this is karma for the disrespect shown to the shrine?
Sorry you may not mean it... but to say this is Karma.... if the Buddha or whatever gods they worship are any good, it would not be using Karma in this way. This is just plain inhumane violence whoever is responsible.

Re: All Thailand TCSS / Info / Gatherings / Help Thread.

Streets in Bangkok were unusually quiet tonight. Bars at Nana plaza and Soi cowboy have fewer girls than usual. Many girls did not turned up for work for fear of secondary explosion site. Just returned back from Huai kwang night market and usually the Shrine would be filled with many worshippers at this time. But none was there. Lol. There were a couple of police officers patrolling the area as well. Feels weird to be the only person worshipping. Quickly make my offerings and left.

Hey bros, u all think it's safe to go BKK now? I'm still deciding whether to cancel my trip there this weekend...

Or maybe some bros here can bring me go chiong instead of the usual Nana or Soi Cowboy??

I would say Bangkok remains safe despite the 2 bombing incidents. Avoid hot zones and be vigilant. Register yourself with Singapore Embassy in case of emergency and contact tracing.

Do watch out for travel advisory by MFA and monitor the latest developments.

Level 1 - Exercise normal safety precautions
Level 2 - Exercise high degree of caution
Level 3 - Reconsider need to travel
Level 4 - Do not travel

This 4 levels of travel advisories reflects the assessment of threat the traveller might face. I am residing in Thailand and the only time I will fly back to sinkieland or to other country for a short vacation or to other provinces in Thailand is when Level 4 is issued and I feel the local government is no longer in control of the situation therefore my personal safety is an issue. From what I feel on the ground, the authorities are in control of the present situation. Life is as normal in Bangkok with a tinge of solemn mood.

If you are concerned, you can hop to the near by Pattaya for the ladies.

Just from a uncle point of kopi view.

Surprising, the Erawan shrine is now back to business after overnight bombing.

Personally if I've already booked air tickets I'll proceed but with caution.

So far in Bangkok no precedent of terrorism incidents at cheonging places yet.
Avoid taking motosai and taxis during this period as you'll be human target for bomb ball bearings/nails or bullet richochets.
MRT is good as security is vigilant with bag checking.

HOME TEAM is really the sibei ho!
When got Singaporeans up lorry or injured then issue warning or render assistance!

In 28/11/2008 during the protest by PAD at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and closures of airports I called HOME TEAM to get some assistance as I saw on TV news that China and Philippines have sent chartered flights to send their affected citizens home. Reply was, "Singapore no have wor.".

In my mind..

First world nation more kiam siap than developing nations.
To cut the long story short I've to get back to Singapore via combination of coach + plane from another Thailand airport!

During that time a civil war could possibly broke out and HOME TEAM chose to be reactive.
Until now I think back of this matter I still sibei dulan.
Also another incident in China which is another story for another time.
This coming GE I'll exercise my right!

Note that ALL Travel Insurance WILL NOT cover that country once Level 4 warning is given and some Travel Insurance does not cover or have limited cover for Level 3 warnings. Better double check b4 we fly or else we could be fried!
