Better refrain from going to HDB prostitute dens to avoid being caught with your pants down now that the heat is on.

Lightbulb Re: secret garden now hot topic in Facebook: "KNN - kaki news network "

this issue stems from the fact that there is little coordination at the top og government with regards to policies and specific operational consequences...

The overriding principle here is that such trade cannot be stamped out, it can only be managed. If you try and stamp the trade out, the conequence is that the trade will depart in its current form and modus operandi and move into any form and operation but still retain its character and flavour... so now you have the trade no longer in Geylang but all over the island, in the heartlands, at your neighbour's where your kids, wives can see them daily, instead of them never seeing them in Geylang and only knowing that they are there...

When you order SPF to squeeze and stamp Geylang, and now get URA in on the act, you are in effect not stamping out the trade, you are merely stamping and forcing the trade to move elsewhere, so now from an area in which you know and can control, you have it pushed and squeezed them out and spread them to all other parts of Singapore, and now they have entered into one's own neighbourhood, own backyard...

This is the main problem with the policies, there is little thought given to the mid to long term consequence of executive action, looking only at immediate short term gains... Does not take a genius to tell you that when you squeeze on a water balloon, the water does not go disappear, it will now leave the confines of the balloon and spread all over

Good point! Thats also probably one of the reasons this trade has evolved over the years and hav extend their network to islandwide instead of being confined only to geylang.

the government just don learn. take a look at Hong Kong, which have many similarities with SG. Tighten the control dont solve the problem, it just pushing it underground further and creating anothe problem like wat we see in Msia or Vietnam -FL get abuse. since htey always like to learn from sweden, why they don see how Sweden and Holland handle sex trade.

I agree.

Rather than clamp down on prostitution, the government should regulate them to ensure they are conducted in an ethical manner and have their operations based in certain districts to avoid spilling into heartlands.

So much clamping down, now what do you have? FLs without health checks, FLs in neighborhood districts and all run by less than ethical people.

Just introducing more risks into the system.

Couple of years back news had an interview with the Senator in charged on JC. He said something like vices should remain hidden, is not that he discover commercial sex. Rather he advice customers to cheong the girls in door.

I dont think is possible for there are elements beyond control. Still never trust politicans.

We cannot trust ANY government and always check on them. That is part of the responsibility of a citizen who lives in a democratic country. If you think that you do not need to keep an eye on our government, you are being brain washed.

Good points bro. I also agree that it is better to have it in one area you can control than force it to evolve into something that becomes a cat and mouse game.
