This may sound weird but most of my Vietnamese friends visiting Spore would ask me to take them to the "famous" frog leg porridge in Chinatown or Geylang. It's like one of the "must-do" things here. If they have it in Saigon why bother trying the one in Spore?

Not weird, since the food are originated from Singapore, everybody want to try from their original country. Same like we have Din tai fung in Singapore, I would want to try their original branch in Taipei.

I remember couple of years back drag by a girl to eat chao ech in Lion city restaurant, Back then still very few chao ech stall in Saigon.
Now re-visiting Saigon surprise to see many places selling chao ech. Just opp. Sheraton hotel you see our famous geylang frog porridge.

Most if not all the frog porridge in Saigon are Singapore style.

A noobie here planning to make a trip to HCM in Sept.

I am totally clueless where the nightlife areas are and what to expect. I am hoping to visit pubs/clubs and discos as well as red light districts to start off 'knowing' viet a little more.

Would appreciate any shifus advice which street or places to visit for first timers? I read that hotels might be an issue bring back girls, so usually how is it done there?
