If you are running a temperature, suggest that u temporarily skip Batam (or traveling anywhere for that matter) as you are likely to be quarantined.

Sindo to Batam was given the health declaration form upon boarding, reached btm center nobody came to collect or tend to collect the filled form, no infra-red screening as well. Indonesia Boleh !!

Thank you for the info on the health declaration form and the heat scanner thingy (very useful to me).

When I was going to Batam on 26th Aug,there was heavy haze in the morning and ferry got stuck in water of Harbour Front with everyone on board the ferry with a delay of more than 30mins.

Looks like the coming trip,i might just be meeting with another delay again.

Health checks rolled out in Batam
to anticipate entry of Zika virus

BATAM, Indonesia - Officials were assigned to monitor sea ports serving Batam-Singapore route to anticipate the spread of Zika virus.

The Health Ministry has assigned health officials to stand guard at eight Riau Islands sea ports that serve routes to Singapore as an anticipatory measure to limit the spread of the Zika virus following reports of infections in the city-state.

There have been 193 officials assigned since Monday at ports in Batam, Bintan and Karimun, Riau Islands Health Agency head Tjepjep Yudiana said on Tuesday. Tjepjep said the health agency had co-operated with port authorities since reports that 41 people had tested positive for the virus in Singapore.

"As the region closest to Singapore, we taking measures to anticipate the virus entering Riau Islands via passengers who have visited Singapore," he told The Jakarta Post.

All passengers entering through the eight ports who have come from Singapore must pass through a thermal scan to check their body temperature, Tjepjep said.

The health office has also appointed three hospitals to handle people infected with the Aedes mosquito-borne virus. The hospitals are Embung Fatimah in Batam, Provincial Hospital in Tanjungpinang and Karimun Regional Hospital.

Meanwhile, Batam Port Health Office chief Anas Makruf said passengers arriving in Batam also needed to fill in a health report card to look for symptoms such as fever, rash, red eyes and headache.

"We will conduct a further check if a passenger has experienced two of the four symptoms," he said.

Now screening in all the Blitz Theatre in Batam (Harbour Bay Mall and Kepril Mall) from 31st Aug but not in Cinema 21 (BCS Mall,Mega Mall and Nagoya Hill Mall). Now, here's the tricky part,the movie will be in Korean with bahasa subtitle and no English subtitle of any sort (according to the cinema). I guess they were meant for the Indonesian or those who could either understand Korean or Bahasa. Sadly,its not for me becos i dont understand bahasa and/or korean...*sob*...

I doubt anyone would not know how to get to Harbour Bay,hehehe...and if you really do not know,then you should read my signature link.

The storyline :

Thermal check has been done routinely in KUL airport for all international arrivals since a few years, I think since the spreading of suine and avian flue. It is interesting to note that the Malaysian authorities have set this simple check at arrivals in KUL, but not at the land border with Singapore. That is, no check on people from Singapore by bus.

The check is done simply by a camera pointed at the flow of people passing by. People does not have to stop in front of it: they just keep on walking, zero additional delay. People with higher than normal temperature is highlighted with a different color on the screen, manned by an employee.

The health declaration form, which we read about, is given before arrival or upon arrival at Batam border. It cannot be more complicated than the standard immigration form used in Singapore or in Indonesia until a short time ago.

I say all this, to say that I don't understand how this could affect the waiting time at immigration. If these additional measures are the real reason that made your friend to wait 40 minutes, it means that Indonesian Immigration officers really know how to make complicated and chaotic something that should be very simple.

Near Pacific Hotel. Not sure about the price, never go before. But i think one of the seniors have posted before. More expensive than Delta and Octopuss if not mistaken.

Like the previous bro shared, it's near Pacific Hotel. If u stand facing Pacific Hotel, turn left and walk about 100m; you should see a big signboard that read Atalanta Massage. At that sign, turn right, walk into the small lane and voila.

I don't know about the current massage prices cos haven't stepped foot in there for more than 2 years. Like NoNo had mentioned, it is one of the more expensive places in batam; the special packages are negotiated with the gals directly, it's not inclusive in the massage price.

Won't be surprised if they quote u FJ at 600-800k; pls bargain.
